Completes analysis and applies codes for the following: Hospital Inpatient ED that transition to Inpatient Observation that transition to Inpatient Swing Bed Transitional Care Other areas as assigned. Abstracts pertinent information from patient records. Assign ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT-4 codes as appropriate. Queries physicians and other providers when code assignments are not straightforward or documentation in the record is inadequate, ambiguous, or unclear for coding purposes. Keeps abreast of coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements. Abides by the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association and adheres to official coding guidelines. Submits appropriate information to insurance companies for admission notification. Completes medical record review of Inpatient charts as required. Completes other duties as assigned. Schedule Full-Time Remote eligible after training.

RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CIC certification required within six months of hire. Coding certification preferred from the American Health Information Management Association. Experience as a coder or strong training background in coding and reimbursement preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to read and communicate effectively. Strong written and verbal skills. Basic computer knowledge. Decision-making and problem-solving. Team building. Performance Standards Must adhere to HIPAA confidentiality standards. Must adhere to the Keys to Heartfelt Care. Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position.
