Postdoctoral Research Scientist: Postdoctoral Scientist – Stem Cell Biology and Early Embryo Development

CCRM Fertility Research invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Scientist position in an innovative and collaborative research program at the intersection of stem cell biology, cellular reprogramming, early embryo development, and reproductive medicine.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated scientist to pursue fundamental and translational research addressing important questions in human reproduction and developmental biology. Our research aims to understand how emerging stem cell-based models, including blastoids and related reproductive systems, together with innovative approaches in cellular reprogramming and regenerative biology, can provide new insights into early human development and reproductive success.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop and lead independent research projects while working closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and clinicians. This research has the potential to generate new knowledge and innovative strategies that may ultimately contribute to advances in assisted reproductive technologies (ART) and improved in vitro fertilization (IVF) outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and lead innovative and rigorous independent and collaborative research projects involving stem cell biology, cellular reprogramming, early embryo development, and in vitro and animal-model systems.
  • Develop, optimize, and apply experimental approaches in molecular and cellular biology, stem cell culture, imaging, and functional assays.
  • Analyze, interpret, and integrate experimental data to address important biological and translational research questions.
  • Communicate research findings through scientific presentations, peer-reviewed publications, reports, and collaborative discussions.
  • Contribute intellectually and technically to the development of new research directions and experimental approaches.
  • Foster a collegial, multidisciplinary, and highly collaborative research environment while contributing to the broader scientific mission of CCRM Fertility.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Stem Cell Biology, Reproductive Biology, Developmental Biology, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated research experience in one or more relevant areas, including stem cell biology, cellular reprogramming, molecular and cellular biology, reproductive biology, or developmental biology.
  • Strong ability to independently design, execute, troubleshoot, and interpret complex research projects.
  • Experience with stem cell culture, molecular biology, cellular and functional assays, and/or advanced imaging techniques.
  • Experience with single-cell transcriptomics, epigenetic analysis, computational biology, or integrated bioinformatics approaches is highly desirable.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a demonstrated ability or strong potential to publish high-quality scientific research.
  • A high degree of scientific curiosity, creativity, initiative, and commitment to rigorous and reproducible research.
  • Ability to work both independently and effectively within a collaborative, multidisciplinary research environment.

Work environment

This job operates in a professional office and clinical setting with frequent use of medical instrumentation and equipment, supplies and materials. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, including computer keyboards and mice, telephones, photocopiers, scanners, and filing cabinets.

The duties of this position involves an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues or a potential for spills and splashes from them. Appropriate protective measures are required for every employee engaged in these tasks. The duties of this position also involve occasionally exerting 75 pounds of force, and/or up to 35 pounds of force frequently.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, see and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; frequently stand and or walk; use hands and fingers to grasp, pick, pinch, type; and reach with arms and hands. Employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; operation of standard office machines and equipment.
