Advocacy

• DSPs advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with disabilities, helping them access resources and services that promote independence and community inclusion.
• Required task may include but is not limited to the following: Grooming and bathing consumers with low mobility Preparing each Indvidual's room with necessary items like blankets, pillows, medical equipment and bathroom needs Helping participants eat and take medications Making sure they have regular meals and proper medication dosages Monitoring vitals and patient behavior and reporting them to the nursing and medical staff Assisting consumers with mobility needs, transferring them from wheelchair to bed Turning or adjusting patients in bed to prevent bedsores or other discomfort Exercising patients by helping them walk Transporting consumers to activities in the community Assisting consumers with daily tasks

Requirements

Skills and Qualifications Interpersonal Skills: Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills are vital for building trust and rapport with individuals. Direct Support Professionals are essential in empowering individuals with disabilities to achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives, making their role both impactful and rewarding. Experience cooking, cleaning, and working with adults with special needs is preffered.
