Performs decontamination and sterilization procedures according to Infection Control and QA guidelines. Provides the physicians, OR staff, and nurses with products safe for patient use on a routine basis or as emergency needs demand.
What you will do
Performs decontamination, assembly and sterilization, according to Infection Control and established QA monitoring guidelines as demonstrated by annual competency review.
Operates sterilization equipment which includes: steam, ETO, and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaner, washer/sterilizer, and automated cart washer.
Operates equipment according to manufacturer operational directions and in a manner that ensures the safety of the operator as demonstrated by annual competency review.
Utilizes computer to access information; communication with manager, supervisors and co-workers.
Reports broken and malfunctioning instruments and equipment to the supervisor or manager.
Utilizes desktop and laptop computers and handheld PDA for instrument decontamination, assembly and tracking functions.
Answers phones and meets customer’s needs in a professional manner.

Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent and the ability to perform essential job functions including visual acuity and effective communication. Candidates must be able to work the specified day shift hours and adhere to safety and regulatory standards.
