We’re looking for a skilled professional to join our laboratory team on a PRN basis, supporting the preparation of surgical GI specimens for microscopic examination. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a collaborative environment, values accuracy, and is comfortable working with gross tissue specimens. 🧬 POSITION SUMMARY The PRN Histology Technician performs technical laboratory duties related to the preparation of surgical GI specimens for microscopic examination. This role supports high-quality diagnostic services through meticulous specimen handling, histological processing, and laboratory organization. 🔬 WHAT YOU’LL DO Perform specimen grossing and dissection Prepare body tissue specimens for microscopic examination Perform histological procedures, including: Processing Embedding Cutting Staining Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment Monitor and organize laboratory supplies Perform clerical and administrative duties, including filing and faxing/emailing reports Maintain strict patient and employer confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations Collaborate with physicians, medical assistants, and fellow team members to support efficient laboratory operations Adapt to changing priorities, conditions, and work responsibilities while maintaining a positive, professional attitude 🎓 QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Education & Certification Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Natural Science or a related field ASCP HT or HTL certification What We’re Looking For Comfortable working with gross tissue specimens and committed to proper PPE use Exceptional attention to detail and ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly Strong verbal and written communication skills Proficiency with computers and electronic medical records Strong commitment to patient, team member, and employer confidentiality Professional, friendly, cheerful, and helpful demeanor Ability to anticipate and respond to the needs of physicians and medical assistants while following established policies and procedures Excellent attention to the minute details of each patient case Flexible and adaptable in a changing work environment Positive attitude with a willingness to embrace and support positive change Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with coworkers 🗓️ PRN SCHEDULE This is a PRN, after-hours and weekend position primarily providing coverage for PTO and scheduled vacations.
