The Physician Assistant will provide healthcare services to patients in the surgery center under physician direction, including examining patients, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and performing therapeutic procedures like suturing and wound care. Responsibilities also involve developing patient care plans, prescribing medications within guidelines, and assisting the physician with emergency treatments and complex procedures.
Candidates must complete a four-year physician assistant baccalaureate program plus one year of clinical training, or a two-year accredited PA program followed by two years of clinical training, and must hold an unrestricted Physician Assistant license in Maryland. Continued employment requires 100 hours of continuing medical education every two years and passing a recertification exam every six years.
