The Pre-Admissions RN prepares patients for surgery by conducting required diagnostic tests, documenting medical history, and recording current home medications. This role also involves preparing patients for the cath lab and other hospital admissions, ensuring abnormal results are promptly reported to the appropriate medical staff.
Candidates should preferably possess a BSN and must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current Alabama license. Preferred experience includes three years of varied clinical experience as an RN, along with strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
Overview Prepares patients for surgery by performing diagnostic test required by the surgeon and anesthesiologist, documenting past medical/surgical history and current home medications and reporting abnormal results to the appropriate person (surgeon, nurse practitioner, anesthesia evaluator, etc.). The pre-admission RN also prepares patients for the cath lab and other hospital admissions.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Experience required: Education: BSN preferred. Graduate of accredited school of nursing with current Alabama license required.
