The technologist performs diagnostic imaging exams using CT, MRI, Interventional Radiology, and Cardiology equipment, verifying patient identity, updating medical history, and explaining procedures and risks to patients. They are responsible for acquiring appropriate images, reviewing them, documenting observations, responding to medical emergencies, and providing post-care instructions.
Candidates must be registered by ARRT in Radiology (RT), Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI), or Cardiovascular-Interventional (CV), and must obtain AHA BLS certification by the end of orientation. A minimum of one year of experience as an ARRT Radiologic Technologist in Radiology is required, with ACLS or PALS certification needed within 6 or 12 months, respectively, depending on the setting.
