The Nurse Extern assists patients with activities of daily living and provides basic patient care designed to meet their physical, emotional, and social needs. They may also be cross-trained for unit secretary clerical duties and perform validated nursing practice interventions.
Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing Program and have successfully completed two Clinical Nursing courses. A current BLS Certificate is required, and prior clinical experience in the area of expertise is preferred.
Summary The Nurse Extern is currently enrolled in a School of Nursing and who has successfully completed two Clinical Nursing courses. When on duty, The Nurse Extern assists patients with activities of daily living and provides basic patient care which is designed to meet the physical, emotional and social needs of the patient. The Nurse Extern may also be cross trained to perform unit Secretary clerical duties. The nurse Extern may perform nursing practice interventions which have been learned within his/her clinical training and which have been successfully validated by an RN staff member.
Qualifications/Requirements Education Completion of first Clinical Nursing course within an accredited school of Nursing Program Required licensures/certifications Current BLS Certificate Skills and Abilities Good oral and written communication skills in the English language. Experience Prior clinical experience in area of expertise preferred #LI-JF1
