The Mobile Resource Specialist is responsible for identifying unsheltered homeless individuals through direct street outreach to build relationships, provide advocacy, and connect them to services and housing. This role focuses on assisting clients in stabilizing their homeless, mental health, and primary health situations through resource connection and follow-up.
Candidates need a Bachelor’s degree in a mental health discipline or a High School diploma/GED with at least one year of related experience, along with knowledge of the regional mental health system and community resources. A valid NJ Driver's License is mandatory, and preference is given to applicants with lived experience in mental health or substance use recovery.
Description CSPNJ, a mental health nonprofit agency, is looking for full-time Mobile Resource Specialist(s). The Mobile Resource Specialist is responsible for identifying unsheltered homeless individuals through direct street outreach and to build relationships, provide advocacy, and assist with connecting individuals to services and housing; provides community resource information and make appropriate referrals and follow up on referrals and provide any other referrals needed by the community. The focus of this work is to connect clients with resources and services to assist them in stabilizing their homeless, mental health and primary health situations. 90% of time will be spent out in the community engaging unhoused individuals.
Responsible for identifying people experiencing unsheltered homelessness in designated County. Builds relationships with people experiencing unsheltered homelessness, providing advocacy, and assisting with connecting individuals to services and housing. Works collaboratively with the County and coordinated entry to assist individuals to access housing. Assess clients’ needs and provide information and community referrals including clothing, food, shelter, rapid housing services, rental assistance, general assistance, etc. Full-time | 40 hours | Benefit Eligible (Medical, free DMO dental & free vision) including 6 weeks PTO & 11 Holidays
Bachelor’s degree in a mental health discipline or High School diploma / GED with 1+ years of related experience. Knowledge of wellness, the mental health system, and community resources in the region. Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to build and sustain trusting, recovery-oriented relationships with individuals receiving or who have received mental health and/or substance use services. Proficient in Excel, MS Office products, as well as general computer literacy. Willingness to disclose mental health and/or substance use services and speak openly on aspects of recovery. Proven ability to engage and support individuals with mental health diagnoses using empathy, professionalism, and trauma-informed practices. Bilingual skills are a plus! MUST have a valid NJ Driver’s License with acceptable driving record. Lived Experience: CSPNJ prioritizes hiring people who use their life experience with a mental health diagnose or substance use to inspire and support others.
