About the Job Mount Laurel Animal Hospital is currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistants to join our departments full time. In this fast-paced, collaborative environment, you will support doctors and technicians in delivering exceptional care to critically ill and emergency patients, including dogs, cats, and exotic species. This is a great opportunity for individuals looking to get started in the veterinary field, offering hands-on experience and the chance to grow within a leading emergency and specialty hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Assist doctors with examinations and procedures on emergency patients
  • Support veterinary technicians with treatments and daily patient care
  • Participate in diagnostics and care including lab work, physical exams, and administering medications
  • Use IMPROMED to input charges and update patient medical records
  • Set up and perform diagnostic radiographs
  • Send out lab samples and perform in-house diagnostics using IDEXX/ABAXIS equipment
  • Administer subcutaneous fluids and injections
  • Perform blood draws and place IV catheters
  • Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked treatment areas
  • Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 months experience as a veterinary assistant (waived if enrolled in a veterinary education program)
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication, multitasking, and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with commonly used veterinary medications
  • Comfortable working with cats, dogs, and exotic species
  • Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, and bend for extended periods
  • Ability to routinely lift and restrain animals up to 40 lbs
  • Physically active role in a dynamic hospital setting

Requirements
