The primary duties involve administering various types of allergy injections, mixing and preparing antigen vials, and performing allergy testing and treatment for patients, accounting for approximately 80% of the time. Additional responsibilities include managing allergy-related administrative tasks such as scheduling, verifying benefits, and maintaining supplies and equipment cleanliness.
Candidates must have a high school education or GED equivalent and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, with prior experience in a medical practice and allergy technician roles being preferred. Essential requirements include adhering to clinical standards, complying with regulatory requirements like OSHA and HIPAA, and possessing strong attention to detail and effective interpersonal skills for patient interaction.
Skill in performing medical assistant tasks appropriately. Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions. Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families as directed by the physician.
