The role is responsible for performing laboratory tests and analysis to generate data crucial for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This involves working within the laboratory setting to support patient care.
Candidates must be certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), or Medical Technologist (MT) by a nationally recognized agency. Requirements also include an Associate's degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology for high complexity testing, or meeting specific equivalency/grandfathering clauses, and meeting CLIA 88 standards.
