The Surgical Technician functions as a member of the surgical team in the scrub role, performing assigned duties and maintaining the integrity of the sterile field using proper technique. Key duties include preparing for cases using preference lists, collaborating on counts, and ensuring proper supplies are available for various age populations.
Required qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology or Licensed Practical Nurse program. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in scrub technique, understand anatomy, and maintain CPR certification, with an unencumbered LPN license required if hired in that capacity.
Functions as a member of the surgical team performing assigned duties of the technologist in the scrub role. Applies knowledge of concepts necessary for maintain integrity of the sterile field. Serves the following populations: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
Must be high school graduate or equivalent. Must be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or a Licensed Practical Nurse educational program.
Must be able to understand directions and be able to communicate and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skills. Must be able to input and retrieve information from computer.
Current, unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure from the state of employment if hiring into the LPN capacity.
CPR required.
Years of Experience: Prior experience in a surgical setting preferred.
