The Respiratory Therapist must be a team player who has superb communication skills in order to share complex information with patients and collaborate with Physicians.
Duties
of a Respiratory Therapist:
Provides Respiratory Therapy treatment to all patients as directed in accordance with best practices and department standards
Interviews and examines patients with breathing related disorders
Records patient treatment, response, and progress
Inspects, tests, maintains, and operates respiratory therapy equipment
Performs chest examinations as needed
Consult with physicians to develop patient treatment plans
Monitor and record patients' progress
Provides guidance and education to all staff members and patients regarding respiratory care
Ability to succeed in situations under pressure while maintaining patience, tact and endurance
Qualifications
of a Respiratory Therapist:
Demonstrates eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S.
Graduate of an accredited School for Respiratory Therapy
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) skills required.
Licensed Respiratory Therapist in the state of Michigan
Must have BLS & ACLS certifications or obtain certification within 90 days of employment
Ability to perform Respiratory Therapy procedures independently and have superior problem-solving skills
Ability to effectively educate others
