The Advanced Practice Provider will manage patients with a high degree of independence, assess their physical and psychosocial status, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities also include performing surgical procedures, patient education, and participating in quality initiatives.
Candidates must have a MN, MSN, DNP, PhD, or DNS degree in nursing or be a graduate of an accredited physician assistant program. They must also maintain relevant licensure and certifications, with a preference for candidates with 2 years of orthopedic or urgent care experience.
Essential Functions Manages patients with the highest degree of independence in provision of patient care services with minimal physician supervision and in a highly specialized area and across the continuum. Assesses the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, diagnostic studies and recognizes deviations from the normal. Develops a diagnosis and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to formulate and implements the treatment plan. Surgically close wounds, incision and drainage, debridement, dressing (the surgeon must remain in the immediate area). Scrub with collaborating surgeon in operating room. Performs complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, as credentialed, in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care. Implements appropriate management based on laboratory results, physical assessment, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, admission and discharge care in accordance with evidence based medicine. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves patient care issues to foster significant improvement in patient care and outcomes. Dictates and documents in an accurate and timely manner. Performs patient education and maintains provision of preventive health services. Conducts or participates in multidisciplinary rounds. Participates in the department call rotation and/ or weekend/ holiday rounding as required. prescribe medication. Participates in quality initiatives to ensure consistent attainment of key quality indicators. Supports IRB approved clinical research/trials through a variety of activities including but not limited to: ordering diagnostic tests, prescreening patients, recording laboratory and diagnostic results, administering therapeutic interventions per trial protocols and documenting outcomes per hospital and trial protocols. Acts as an advanced resource for the specialty area Perform minor bedside procedures that are appropriate to the specialty patient population and independent of the physician
Education/Training MN or MSN or DNP or PhD or DNS degree in nursing required or Graduate of accredited physician assistant program. Licensure/Certification Maintain current physician assistant licensure or Florida ARNP License in State of Florida. If a Physician Assistant : Maintains NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants). If a Nurse Practitioner : Maintains national advanced certification from an approved nursing specialty board. Maintains BLS certification. Maintains ACLS, NRP, PALS certification as required by department. Experience 2 years ortho or 2+ urgent care/ED experience preferred*
