The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for tasks including deciphering and entering computer orders, compounding IVs, managing charges and credits, filling orders, answering communications, and stocking the department after training. Key duties involve running reports, restocking automated dispensing machines, performing sterile and non-sterile compounding according to USP guidelines, and managing medication carts and floor stock.
Candidates must possess a Pharmacy Technician license (temporary, limited, or full) through the state of Michigan, with temporary license holders needing to obtain a full license within 365 days. Required qualifications include successful completion of an annual Aseptic Technique exam, computer experience, good math and organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure as a team player.
The Pharmacy Technician is an entry-level position. Following a training period, the Technician should be able to decipher and enter orders on the computer, compound IVs, charge and credit, fill orders, answer phones and doors, and stock the department.
