Where You’ll Work Bakersfield Memorial Hospital includes 385 general acute beds, 48 licensed critical care beds, 13 state-of-the-art surgical suites, and a full-service Emergency Department with an Accredited Chest Pain Center and Nationally Certified Stroke Center.
In addition, we offer a beautiful Family Care and Birthing Center, the Lauren Small Children's Center including the area's only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Family Care Center, a Level II NICU, the Sarvanand Heart, and Brain Center with Kern County's first Bi-Plane Interventional Suite, the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbarics, and many more services.

Safety Maintains current knowledge of all patient safety standards and National Patient Safety goals and consistently incorporates into nursing practice.
Able to safely administer medications and blood/blood products using the 7 (seven) rights of medication and blood administration.
Uses 2 (two) separate hospital approved identifiers to safely identify the patient prior to medication / blood administration.
Maintain a safe, therapeutic work environment at all times and identifies and addresses problems to the appropriate departments.
Adheres to principles of infection control, including medical and surgical asepsis and isolation techniques.
Demonstrates aseptic technique while conducting sterile dressing changes, urinary catheterizations, and other similar duties.
Receive, interpret and implement physician orders in a safe and timely manner.
Uses hospital approved process for telephone and / or verbal orders that include a readback of all orders.
Job Requirements Required High School Graduate Education level necessary to obtainrequired licensure and certifications 1 year of operating room/ surgicalexperience.
If operational conditionspermit, training a candidate without therequired experience may be considered., upon hire or High School GED, upon hire Registered Nurse: CA, upon hire and Basic Life Support - CPR, American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support, American Heart Association (AHA) Preferred Bachelors Other, upon hire Pediatric Advanced Life Support, American Heart Association (AHA)
Requires a high school diploma, a valid California Registered Nurse license, and BLS and ACLS certifications. One year of operating room or surgical experience is preferred, though training may be considered for some candidates.
