The Medical Assistant will be responsible for daily patient flow and must use triage skills to gather information for health assessments. They will assist physicians and maintain patient medical data.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and current MA certification from an accredited body. Basic knowledge of coding conventions and medical practice management systems is required.
TITLE: Medical Assistant REPORTS TO POSITION: Clinic Supervisor or Manager DEPARTMENT: St. Charles Health System DATE LAST REVIEWED: December 2024 OUR VISION: Creating America’s healthiest community, together OUR MISSION: In the spirit of love and compassion, better health, better care, better value OUR VALUES: Accountability, Caring and Teamwork DEPARTMENTAL SUMMARY: The Medical Assistant (MA) position is assimilated throughout St. Charles Health System encompassing practices in three Central Oregon counties and numerous specialties including orthopedic services, family care, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, immediate/urgent care, cardiology, pulmonology, rheumatology, general surgery, cancer care, behavioral health, and sleep medicine. Our MAs collaborate with physicians and non-clinical staff to assure we are providing our community with comprehensive and compassionate health care. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Medical Assistant will be responsible for daily patient flow for each respective physician for whom they work. Must use triage skills to gather information from which designated staff can make appropriate patient health assessments and to anticipate physician's needs as they relate to the patients' medical care. This position does not manage any other caregivers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: Escorts patients to exam rooms and prep for physician assessment. Records and maintains patient's medical data in patient's medical chart. Assists physician with answering phone requests from patients and/or other medical professionals and institutions. Performs a variety of physician-requested ancillary and/or surgical patient procedures. (This excludes the administration of IV medication.) Maintains equipment, instruments supply inventory levels. Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests. Conducts all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization, as required or assigned. EDUCATION: Required: High school diploma or GED.
