The Certified Recovery Specialist will assist patients in regaining control over their lives and recovery process by providing peer support services across various treatment settings. Responsibilities include utilizing personal recovery experience to teach, role model, observe progress, and teach essential life skills like problem-solving and combating negative self-talk.
Candidates must self-identify as a current or former patient maintaining healthy substance abuse recovery and possess a high school diploma or GED. Verification of completion of state-approved training and passing a certification exam is mandatory, alongside excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
