The role involves the daily operation of receiving and processing all surgical specimens submitted to the Histology department, rendering them suitable for microscopic examination by pathologists. Responsibilities include embedding, cutting, coverslipping, labeling, and performing routine and special staining, as well as operating Immunohistochemistry instruments.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science degree and preferred prior Histology Lab experience, although ASCP HT certification is preferred over being required. Essential requirements include maintaining expertise with histology equipment, intense concentration, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills for working under high time pressure.

Four (4) years of college, B.S. Degree, ASCP Histotechnologist certification
Prior Histology Lab experience preferred.
Licensure: None required; ASCP HT certification preferred
Lifting of medium weight objects. Close machine work and the use of sharp knives and instruments. Intense concentration and attention to detail, average laboratory conditions; exposure to formaldehyde, caustic agents and other hazardous solvents.
