The APRN will provide comprehensive outpatient care, including patient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and medication management. This role requires clinical expertise, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach to patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and health assessments Diagnose medical conditions and develop treatment plans Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests Prescribe medications Collaborate with physicians and refer complex or non-routine cases as appropriate Monitor patient therapies and ensure continuity of care Triage patient calls and assess clinical concerns Respond to medical emergencies, including performing CPR when necessary Provide preventive health education and counseling to patients and families Accurately document patient care in the medical record and maintain required clinical data Basic Qualifications Master’s degree from an accredited School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner program Certification (or eligibility for certification) as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Experience Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in an outpatient clinical setting Performance Expectations Knowledge Strong understanding of the medical model and collaborative roles of physicians and nurse practitioners Proficiency in anatomy, pharmacology, pathophysiology, clinical medicine, and physical diagnosis Expertise in patient assessment, care planning, and clinical documentation Skills Ability to gather and analyze physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional patient data Strong clinical judgment in evaluating patient needs in person or by phone Effective care plan development and revision based on patient progress Abilities Sound decision-making within the scope of nurse practitioner practice Strong collaboration with physicians on complex cases Ability to educate patients, families, and staff in a clear and approachable manner Physical ability to perform clinical duties requiring manual dexterity and coordination QualificationsEducation: MSN required. Successful completion of advanced practitioner training and certification as a practitioner (general or specialized) from an approved nurse practitioner program.
Skill in oral and written communication; interviewing to gather medical histories; providing presentations, consultations, facilitation, and documentation, e.g., writing medical orders, patient education materials, and medical record updates. Skill in case management, time management, problem solving, crisis intervention, multitasking, and other organizational matters. Skill in modifying methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide appropriate nursing care and in initiating appropriate emergency response and investigatory procedures.
