The primary objective is to obtain blood specimens through venipuncture and micro-collection, while also accurately completing all necessary clerical functions for the laboratory department. Essential duties include observing safety guidelines, correctly identifying patients, labeling specimens, and maintaining an orderly flow of samples to technical areas.
Candidates are preferred to have at least one year of experience in a healthcare field and must possess an ASCP/AMT phlebotomy certificate at the time of hire or obtain one within one year. A High School diploma or GED is required, and the ability to obtain BLS certification within one month of hire is also necessary.
