The Medical Assistant supports medical and nursing staff by performing routine clinical and clerical tasks during outpatient appointments, including phlebotomy and assisting with cast application and removal. Responsibilities also involve rooming patients, taking vital signs, preparing exam rooms, stocking supplies, and accurately documenting information in the Electronic Medical Record.
Required qualifications include obtaining Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within three months of hire. Preferred qualifications include being a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), possessing a High School Diploma/GED, and having two years of experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably with two years in pediatric care.
The Medical Assistant assists in rooming patients, taking vital signs, measurements, preparation of exam rooms, stocking supplies, assisting the physician, interacting with other departments and documentation in the electronic medical record The Medical Assistant works with and under the direction of the RN Assists providers, nursing and other health care professionals with procedures and the intake and depart processes. Accurately documents information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Assists in cast room as needed Responsible for prepping clinic to be prepared for that day's clinic to include monitoring supplies and equipment and ordering supplies Utilizes good clinical judgement to identify problems and interventions with patients and families and referral to RN as needed Other duties as assigned.
