The Patient Care Technician performs and assists with activities of daily living and certain treatments for patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse, prioritizing and organizing care for assigned patients using basic nurse's aide skills. Responsibilities also include documenting treatments, providing reports, and maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly unit.
Candidates must hold specific credentials such as a PCT/CNA/EMT/LPN certification equivalent, or a Medical Assistant credential, and must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within three months of hire. Required education is a High School equivalent, and the role demands strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of medical terminology, and the ability to handle physical demands and stressful situations.
This position works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs and assists with individual activities of daily living as well as certain treatments for patient care under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse according to established policies, procedures and guidelines.
Employees who are in a casual position are required to pick up shifts as outlined in the Midland Nursing - Casual Employee Policy.
