The Medical Assistant supports patient care during pre-surgical, operative, and recovery periods under nursing supervision, collaborating with medical staff for coordinated care. Responsibilities also include providing administrative support such as chart maintenance, data entry, and ensuring quality of care by adhering to compliance standards.
The role requires assisting with patient admissions, procedures, and discharge, alongside maintaining procedural instrumentation and handling medical records. Candidates must adhere strictly to compliance standards, infection-control policies, and HIPAA regulations while providing emotional support to patients and families.
The Medical Assistant serves as support personnel following regulations for the practice of Medical Assistants including assisting with patient admissions, patient procedures, care and maintenance of procedural instrumentation, discharging patients, chart preparation, medical records, medication administration, assisting providers and other personnel as needed, and other collateral duties.
