The Medical Assistant performs patient care under the direction of a physician or Advanced Practice Provider in an ambulatory setting, which includes gathering patient data, assisting during examinations, and documenting procedures and treatments.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school or verifiable applicable work experience in a patient care setting. Current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Certification is mandatory, along with specific MA certification within six months of hire if hired after January 1, 2015.
