The Physician will provide comprehensive care to individuals housed in the Harris County Jail, which includes conducting intake assessments and managing both urgent and chronic medical conditions. This role requires collaboration with advanced practice providers, interdisciplinary teams, and coordination with external hospitals when necessary.
Candidates must hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree and be Board Certified or Board-Eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine. Required licensure includes an active Texas Medical Board license and an active DEA license, along with completion of an ACGME-accredited residency.

Harris Health System is seeking a Physician to join the Correctional Health team at the 701 Clinic for 12-hour night shifts. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a high-impact, mission-driven environment, providing comprehensive care to individuals housed in the Harris County Jail. Responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, managing urgent and chronic conditions, and collaborating with advanced practice providers and interdisciplinary teams. You will work closely with Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies, nursing staff, and on-site services such as radiology, pharmacy, laboratory, dental, and nutrition services. You will also coordinate with external hospitals when higher-level care is required and ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
