Under the supervision of a Medical Technologist, the technician is responsible for performing laboratory tests and analysis to provide data crucial for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This role involves executing various laboratory procedures within the health system's laboratory services.
Candidates must have earned an Associate's degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology, or possess equivalent education (60 semester hours with adequate coursework breakdown) plus training or experience. A license as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from a nationally recognized accrediting agency is required, along with meeting CLIA 88 Standards for complex testing.
