The Medical Interpreter/Translator is responsible for providing written and verbal interpretation and translation between English and Spanish to facilitate healthcare services for Spanish-speaking patients. This role also involves assisting providers with interpretation needs and performing various office duties such as billing, scheduling, and updating patient charts.
Candidates must be fully fluent in reading, writing, and speaking both Spanish and English, and a High school diploma or GED Equivalency is required. Prior medical translating experience is preferred for this vital role in bridging communication gaps for patients.
Provide accurate verbal interpretation between English and Spanish during patient visits and other healthcare interactions. Translate written materials and communications as needed. Assist providers with interpretation needs to facilitate effective patient care. Schedule patient appointments and coordinate follow-up communications. Assist with billing-related tasks and patient account inquiries. Update and maintain patient records within the electronic medical record system. Perform general office and administrative duties as assigned. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
High school diploma or GED required. Full fluency in English and Spanish, including reading, writing, and speaking. Prior medical interpretation or translation experience preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical office environment. Proficiency with computer systems and electronic medical records preferred.
