Day to day as a Ultrasound Tech - Diagnostic Medical Sonographer As a Full-Time Ultrasound Tech at Southwest Health System, Inc., your daily responsibilities will include performing high-quality ultrasound examinations across various specialties, ensuring accurate imaging to assist in patient diagnosis. You’ll be expected to prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process with empathy and professionalism to alleviate any concerns. Maintaining and operating ultrasound equipment will be essential, as will adhering to safety protocols and standards of excellence to ensure the highest level of patient care. You will collaborate closely with physicians and healthcare teams, providing detailed reports and leveraging your expertise to assist in diagnostic procedures. Embracing our core values of empathy and integrity will ensure your success in this essential role. Regulatory/Educational Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited educational program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography Completion of an accredited educational program in Radiologic Technology is preferred but not required. Must be registered, or eligible to become registered, by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Sonography, within 6 months of hire. As a condition of employment by Southwest Health System (SHS), you will be required to authorize SHS to conduct a background check prior to your commencing work at SHS, which includes a criminal investigation and verification of citizenship/immigration status, employment history, and education. If you are selected for this position, prior to appointment, you will also be subject to a drug testing for illegal drug use. SHS positions are subject to a Post Offer-Pre Work Screen. This physical exam will determine the capability of the applicant to perform the essential functions.

Requirements

Candidates must possess strong technical skills in ultrasound imaging and excellent communication abilities to compassionately explain procedures to patients. Essential requirements include a High School diploma or equivalent, completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, and registration eligibility with ARDMS or ARRT in Sonography within six months of hire, along with current BLS/CPR certification.
