The Clinical Perfusionist is responsible for setting up and operating extra-corporeal circulation equipment during medical situations requiring circulatory or respiratory support. This role involves temporarily supporting or replacing the patient’s vital functions using specialized machinery.
Candidates must be a graduate of a CAAHEP/AC-PE accredited Perfusion School, with a preferred Bachelor of Science or Arts degree. Required knowledge spans all aspects of Perfusion Technology, including heart-lung machines and specialized techniques, alongside coursework in sciences and ethics.
The CLINICAL PERFUSIONIST is responsible for the set-up and operation of extra-corporeal circulation equipment during certain medical situations where it is necessary to support or temporarily replace the patient’s circulatory and/or respiratory function.
