The lab assistant is responsible for support functions, preanalytical processing, and preparing specimens for reference laboratories. They also perform waived and moderate complexity testing and manage inventory control.
Candidates must be high school graduates or equivalent and have at least one year of experience as a medical or lab assistant. They should be able to comply with OSHA regulations and adapt to laboratory needs.
Under the direction of the Supervisor, the lab assistant is responsible for support functions, preanalytical processing, preparing specimens to send to appropriate reference laboratories, and accessioning/registration functions. Performance of waived and moderate complexity testing, inventory control and management, specimen storage and retrieval. Performs maintenance required by laboratory.
