The sonographer works with radiologists to obtain high-quality ultrasound images while ensuring patient safety and comfort. They are responsible for maintaining sterile equipment, following safety protocols, and managing patient workflow within the radiology department.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, with an associate's degree in diagnostic medical sonography preferred. Applicants are required to hold or be eligible for ARDMS or ARRT certification and possess the ability to perform diagnostic procedures across various patient age groups.
Education: High School Diploma or GED. Associate's Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred. Must meet the education requirement for diagnostic medical ultrasound certification with ARDMS or ARRT.
1 year experience in sonography preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Follows and supports OSHA regulations and uses universal precautions when required. Cleans examination surfaces between patients. Provides clean linen including sheets, gowns, pillowcases, and towels. Immediately cleans spills following universal precautions. Properly stores accessory equipment when not in use.
