The Surgical Technician assists surgeons during surgical procedures in the operating room under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, which includes conveying sterile instruments and supplies for basic to complex operations. They must adhere to all established policies, procedures, and regulations to maintain compliance and ensure patient safety.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED and be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or clinical-based program, demonstrating knowledge in Anatomy and Physiology, sterile technique, and medical terminology. A minimum of six months of operating room or ambulatory surgery unit experience is required, along with obtaining BLS certification within 14 days of hire.
