The chaplain will provide independent Roman Catholic pastoral care while collaborating with an interfaith team to support patients, families, and staff. Responsibilities include coordinating sacraments, leading worship services, managing volunteers, and providing spiritual advocacy within a clinical setting.
Candidates should possess spiritual integrity and the ability to work effectively within a multi-faith, multi-cultural healthcare environment. A bachelor's degree with advanced studies in theology or counseling is preferred, along with at least one year of chaplaincy experience and Clinical Pastoral Education.
Description The Roman Catholic Diocese of Fall River, through the office of Pastoral Ministry, is seeking to hire a full-time Chaplain for the Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis Massachusetts. The Roman Catholic Chaplain will function independently to cover Roman Catholic pastoral care needs and collaborate with other staff chaplains to address the on-going and interfaith spiritual care needs of patients, families, and staff. Supervision is provided by the Director of Pastoral Ministry.
Coordination of the administration of sacraments and pastoral/spiritual care to patients, families, and staff, both Catholic and interfaith. Planning and providing leadership for special worship services, i.e., Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Easter, and Christmas. Overseeing and assisting with the Catholic volunteer program. Collaborating with a team of Chaplains and religious leaders. Developing and providing education on catholic pastoral/spiritual care to clinical staff as required. Coordination and facilitation of 24/7 chaplain on-call rotation as scheduled. Sharing in other departmental responsibilities as requested by the Director of Pastoral Ministries. Advocate for patients and families with any ethical and moral concerns that may arise from the delivery of medical services. All other duties as assigned.
Be a person of spiritual integrity who empowers people to integrate the experience of illness, trauma, and loss with their religious beliefs and spiritual values. Ability to establish and maintain collaborative and cooperative working relationships with staff members, managers, volunteers, administrators, patients, families, and community religious leaders. Ability to function collegially in a multi-faith multi-cultural staff/work environment. Ability to engage with an interdisciplinary health care team in the delivery of care. Ability to provide pastoral/spiritual care on an interfaith basis and articulate spiritual assessment of patients and families. Ability to provide pastoral care for bereaved and grieving persons, as well as crisis ministry to those is need. Strong advocacy skills with regard to moral and ethical concerns of medical patients and families. Commitment to participate fully in the life of the Catholic Church, while maintaining on-going personal spiritual development and professional minister growth. 1 year chaplain experience. Preferred. Bachelor’s degree with advanced studies in areas of spirituality, theology, or counseling. Preferred. Continued Education Units (CEU) in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE). Preferred
