Medical 3 is a 29-bed unit and is a part of the seven-unit Medical Surgical Division. Medical 3 is a new inpatient acute care unit as of December 2022, and we are excited to build a team of professionals striving to provide excellent care to our patients and families! The patient population on Medical 3 includes all adults eighteen years and older with any assortment of medical conditions, including but not limited to: kidney disease, falls, altered mental status, pain, shortness of breath and various infections. We believe a Medical Surgical foundation enhances your critical thinking, expands on an array of skills, and broadens your knowledge base, while providing opportunities for growth in our Magnet organization. Medical Care

Unit

• Medical care unit is a 26 bed unit, provides care for patients with physical health needs and also a behavioral and/or substance use disorder. Many conditions can affect both physical and mental health, such as chronic diseases, pain, and substance use. Med-Surg Oncology (6 OT): Our 28 bed Oncology Medical and Surgical Inpatient Unit has a population consisting of Gynecology and Urology surgery patients, new oncology diagnosis, medical oncology treatment, end of life and palliative care. Patients with a primary Oncology diagnosis requiring complex nursing care including but not limited to:Supportive Care Interventions, Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) and Epidural Management, Post-Surgical Care: Pain Control, Blood Administration, Wound Care, New Diagnosis Support, Palliative Care, and End of Life Transition.
• Require Cancer Basics Course at manager discretion and by completion date agreed upon by management.
• Require completion of Oncology Nurse Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Certification by completion date agreed upon by management. - Require Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) Certification by completion date agreed upon by management. **All certifications are required for all new hires after 2014. Med-Surg Oncology 2 (7 OT): Our 28 bed Oncology Medical and Surgical Inpatient Unit has a population consisting of Gastroenterology and Breast surgery patients, new oncology diagnosis, medical oncology treatment, end of life and palliative care. Patients with a primary Oncology diagnosis requiring complex nursing care including but not limited to: Supportive Care, Interventions, Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) and Epidural Management, Post-Surgical Care: Pain Control, Blood Administration, Wound Care, drain management, New Diagnosis Support, Palliative Care, End of Life Transition.
