The Pharmacy Intern assists in filling medication cassettes, preparing IV medications, and managing floor stock under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. They are also responsible for delivering supplies, re-packaging medications, and performing quality improvement activities.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited School of Pharmacy program and hold a current State Board of Pharmacy Registration Certificate as a Pharmacy Intern. Previous experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred.
Fills medication cassettes under the direct supervision of a pharmacist Prepares IV medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist Prints out and fills label requests for First does and Stat medications. All labels and medications are inspected by a pharmacist prior to being delivered. Fills Floor Stock and Controlled Substances requests under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. Delivers supplies and medications to other departments as needed. Re-packages bulk forms of medications into unit dose packaging. Completes accompanying records which are then co-signed by the inspecting pharmacist. Orders, unpacks and stores supplies. Ensures all items are verified against invoice before being stored. Compiles outdated medications through monthly inspection of Pharmacy, and returns to appropriate vendor. Performs Quality Improvement activities as directed. Performs other duties as requested.
Currently enrolled in an approved School of Pharmacy program at an accredited college Current State Board of Pharmacy Registration Certificate as a Pharmacy Intern required
