Job Description
Purpose
to provide assistance in the care of Residents through the performance of direct and indirect activities of daily living, following the resident’s care plan, and distribute and administer medications as appropriate.
Essential Functions- Job Duties
The following duties are considered essential to the job. Qualified individuals must have the ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, to perform the following duties:

Prepare and administer each resident’s medication per resident’s service plan and licensed healthcare professional orders.
2.
Provide any prescribed treatment to residents 3.
Document any and all medication passes, and treatments provided 4.
Communicate with Pharmacy for medication changes, refills, missing medications, etc 5.
Communicate with all outside agencies as needed and when they visit the home 6.
Provide support in all areas of daily living as needed by individuals, this may include lifting individuals, assisting in transferring, or moving wheelchairs 7.
Support individuals in obtaining the best quality of life possible 8.
Where assistance is requested/required to support individuals in making choices, advocate for him/her in areas of needs and wants 9.
Assist individuals in developing new relationships and supporting existing relationships 10.
Interacting and communicating in a manner that is respectful toward all individuals 11.
Creating an environment and conducts activities in a manner that ensures health and safety of individuals 12.
Developing and using effective communication with each individual using a style suited to the individual 13.
Communicating in a positive and productive manner at all times with co-workers, families/guardians and the public 14.
Providing a positive role model for individuals and co-workers 15.
Supporting co-workers and actively participates in team process.

Med Techs in an HFA licensed building must follow all aspects of R 325.1932.

Report incidents and accidents as per Cardinal policies and procedures.

Notify licensed healthcare professional of issues or errors regarding medications.
21.
Perform narc counts per Cardinal policy and procedures.
22.
Maintaining the home in safe manner.
Notifies someone, i.e., supervisor of any safety or maintenance issues 23.
Perform other duties as directed by the Executive Director, Director of Wellness, and House Manager.
Secondary Functions- Job Duties: The following are secondary to the essential functions listed above:
1.
Attend and participates in staff meetings, projects, special events, committees, and mandatory training as appropriate.
Completes competency evaluations for training as required by the state or as assigned by their immediate supervisor, HR Director, or Executive Director.
2.
Maintains safety and health rules by participating in training along with implementing and following protocols related to OSHA & CDC regulations and Cardinal Senior Management Standards as required 3.
Promotes and encourages individualized resident independence while maintaining resident dignity, individuality, confidentiality and following infection control policies.
4.
Works as a member of a team to provide essential nursing services and uses effective communication skills.
5.
Follow all applicable state regulations.
Job Requirements
Education & Knowledge Requirements- Specific education, certification, and licensure:
High School Diploma or equivalent, highly preferred
Med Techs must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
CNA or MA preferred
Essential Job-Related Experience/Abilities
Ability to complete the necessary physical movements to move residents by wheelchair
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
Ability to walk continuously, bend frequently, and sit occasionally
Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally (1-33% of workday)
Ability to complete and maintain documentation regarding a resident’s status
Two (2) years’ experience providing basic personal care in a long-term care or healthcare facility
Valid Driver’s License
