The Clinical Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to patients and their families based on individual health needs and physician orders. They actively support the organization's mission and adhere to professional nursing standards and patient-centered care models.
Candidates must hold a valid Registered Nurse license and possess either a Nursing Diploma or an Associate's Degree in Nursing. No prior experience is required for this position.
We’re hiring a night shift Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department Holding Unit, supporting patients in an ED holding area who require med-surg or intermediate‑level care while they await admission, transfer, or next steps in their care journey. You’ll play a key role in delivering safe, coordinated care to a diverse patient population in a fast‑paced ED environment. What you’ll do Provide comprehensive, patient‑centered nursing care based on individualized plans of care Assess and monitor patients’ physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs while coordinating care with the interdisciplinary team Safely administer medications, treatments, and therapies per physician orders and nursing standards Educate patients and families using clear, respectful communication that supports shared decision‑making Uphold WakeMed’s Professional Practice Model and Patient & Family Centered Care philosophy in every interaction Who you are A licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of North Carolina Comfortable caring for med-surg and/or intermediate‑acuity patients, ideally in an ED or acute care setting A strong communicator who values teamwork, collaboration, and patient safety Committed to providing compassionate care that respects patient and family preferences Able to think critically and stay adaptable in a dynamic, high‑energy environment
