How you’ll make an impact in this role Expertly perform manual and automated cleaning of high-complexity surgical instrumentation. Meticulously inspect, test, and assemble specialized surgical trays for diverse clinical specialties. Operate steam and low-temp sterilizers while strictly monitoring biological and chemical indicators. Ensure total adherence to AAMI/AORN standards to eliminate cross-contamination and surgical site infections.
One or more of the following required: Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
What additional preferences we're seeking Minimum 5 years of recent, full-time experience as a Sterile Processing Technician in a high-volume hospital setting, with demonstrated proficiency in all phases including decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and case cart preparation candidates with less experience or requiring extensive onboarding will not be considered. Current CRCST certification (or equivalent) required, along with proven track record of independent operation in decontamination areas without supervision; must provide verifiable references from at least two prior travel assignments confirming no training was needed. Extensive hands-on knowledge of AAMI standards, OSHA regulations, and Joint Commission guidelines for sterile processing, including immediate-use steam sterilization (IUSS) protocols—applicants unfamiliar with these will be disqualified. Experience handling complex instrument trays for specialties such as orthopedics, neurosurgery, and cardiology, with the ability to identify and resolve issues autonomously in fast-paced environments; no entry-level or partially trained techs accepted.
