The Surgical First Assist provides visualization of the operative site, assists with tissue manipulation, and ensures patient safety through proper positioning. They also participate in surgical suite preparation and assist with wound closure and room cleanup.
Candidates must hold a BLS certification and possess a Surgical Assistant credential from NBSTSA or ABSA. Educational requirements include a high school diploma with 2 years of experience, or an associate/technical degree.
