The Histologist is responsible for accessioning and processing various surgical specimens, including tissue, biopsies, and cytology samples. They also assist pathologists with frozen sections, perform immunocytochemical stains, and ensure laboratory equipment is maintained and quality control standards are met.
Candidates must have a high school education and a current Florida license at the Histology or Cytology Technologist level. Preferred qualifications include an Associate’s degree or higher from a NACCLS-approved program, HT/L (ASCP) certification, and two years of hospital experience.
