The Pharmacy Technician In-training assists pharmacists in filling and labeling prescriptions while maintaining accurate patient records in the EHR. They are also responsible for communicating with providers, handling insurance information, and providing professional customer service to patients.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be willing to enroll in the PSI Pharmacy Tech Prep Online program. The role requires obtaining PTCB certification and licensure within one year of the hire date.

Muskegon Family Care is looking for a FULL TIME Pharmacy Technician In-training to join our Team. Position Overview Under the guidance of the Pharmacy Business Manager and under the supervision of the Pharmacy Director, the Pharmacy Technician In-training will perform the functions of a Pharmacy Technician in training by assisting Pharmacist in filling and labeling patient's prescriptions, updating patient personal and insurance information and ensuring accuracy in the prescription filling process.
Enters prescription orders into QS1 accurately and efficiently. Creates and updates patient’s personal profile in EHR including patient demographics, allergy information, and insurance information. Counts 25 prescriptions per hour accurately and efficiently. Ensures that the patient receives correct prescriptions. Answer the phone in a timely manner. Assists Pharmacists with filling and labeling prescriptions. Communicates with providers and their staff to obtain refill authorization. Knowledge of common medication brands and generic names, doses, and indication to patients and staff. Collect cash and/ or credit for payment of prescriptions Understanding of medical terminology Ability to respect confidentiality and patient data Maintains a courteous, helpful and conscientious attitude in dealing with co-workers and patients and their families ensuring professionalism and confidentiality at all times. Keeps work area neat and clean. Regular and prompt attendance at work. All other duties as assigned. EXPECTATION OF EMPLOYEE Must be enrolled in PSI's Pharmacy Tech Prep Online Employer-based Training Program. Must sign up and take the PTCB exam within 6 months of hire. Pass PTCB exam and obtain licensure within 1 year of hire.
