The Staff Pharmacist provides clinical and distributive pharmacy services for inpatient care, ensuring the accuracy and safety of medication orders. They also collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize drug therapy, monitor patient outcomes, and participate in research and educational activities.
Candidates must be graduates of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy and hold or be eligible for an Illinois Pharmacist license. A minimum of two years of hospital pharmacy experience is required, along with the ability to obtain board certification within 18 months of hire.

As a Staff Pharmacist, you will provide clinical and distributive pharmacy services for patients receiving treatment within an assigned area. Our pharmacists cover the pharmacy operations and clinical needs for both the CCD and Comer pharmacies and support our 24/7 coverage model for patient care. This department supports and provides direct patient care to patients of all ages and of all patient populations.
Staff Pharmacists are aligned with a medical service or group of patients based on a geographical area within the University of Chicago hospitals. They are expected to actively participate in related education and research activities. They also ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of all medication orders by evaluating drug selection, dose, frequency, safety, dosage form, allergies, drug interactions, and disease state interactions prior to dispensing of medications and demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of assigned patients.

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
