The Cardiac Sonographer 1 communicates with patients to obtain clinical history and assists physicians in performing various examinations using standard protocols. They are responsible for explaining procedures to patients to ensure cooperation and recognizing clinical or emergent problems during exams.
Candidates must hold a Basic Life Support certification and be registered with ARDMS (RDCS) or CCI (Vascular/RVS) or be registry eligible. A degree from an accredited sonography program or five years of specialized hospital training is required.
