The Respiratory Therapist provides acute and critical respiratory care to patients of all age groups, including the interpretation of physiological parameters. They also participate in emergency response teams and provide education to patients, families, and students.
Candidates must hold a New York State Respiratory Therapist license and possess either a Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care Science or an Associate degree with relevant experience. A minimum of two years of hospital experience is preferred, along with proficiency in intubation and arterial puncture.
The Registered, New York State Licensed, Respiratory Therapist provides acute and critical respiratory care to all age groups, utilizing sound clinical and technological knowledge. The respiratory care includes acquisition and interpretation of physiological parameters and application of respiratory technology toward the resolution of respiratory diseases. The Respiratory Therapists are part of "code blue" and "rapid response" teams. The practice also involves teaching of patient and family members, students and other health care providers.
