Position Summary

AICDC is seeking a compassionate and skilled Nurse (RN/LPN) to deliver interdisciplinary health care services to clients with substance use disorders and co‑occurring mental health diagnoses. This position is responsible for observing, assessing, and caring for clients while applying established policies, protocols, and procedures to safeguard life and health. The Nurse administers medications and treatments as prescribed by a licensed health professional, provides shift assistance to support staff, and consistently demonstrates high‑quality, client‑centered care within a safe and supportive treatment environment.

Essential responsibilities

Communicate clearly and professionally while demonstrating effective problem‑solving in a fast‑paced care environment.

Provide respectful, compassionate, and responsive care to individuals affected by chemical dependency, homelessness, unemployment, and diverse cultural backgrounds.

Deliver comprehensive nursing care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating client care throughout the treatment continuum.

Triage and prioritize client medical and medication needs through accurate observation, documentation, and reporting of client status, with a focus on readiness for discharge.

Administer Condition Specific Protocols in accordance with AICDC Withdrawal Management protocols.

Collect and analyze client data through observation, client interviews, and review of diagnostic tests and laboratory results.

Document clinical findings thoroughly and communicate significant changes to the Charge Nurse and/or on‑call physician.

Collaborate with clients, staff, and other professionals to adjust plans of care in response to changing client needs.

Provide client education related to illnesses and conditions, incorporating recovery goals into individualized discharge plans.

Ensure compliance with licensing requirements, regulatory standards, and applicable statutes to support safe, efficient, and lawful unit operations.

Adhere to and assist with implementation of withdrawal management policies and procedures as directed by the Medical Director.

Participate in required staff training, with a minimum of 15 hours annually.

Perform additional duties, as assigned by management, that are reasonable, within scope, and in the best interest of AICDC and its clients.

Physical requirements

  • The physical requirements described below are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Physical Agility: Ability to initiate or participate in physical restraint of a client
  • Lifting/Carrying: Ability to assist in carrying and or lifting clients, occasionally weighing 100+ lbs, to various areas.
  • Stooping/Kneeling: ability to administer first aid procedures/CPR for an extended period of time as necessary.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Ability to move clients, beds, or chairs and open doors as necessary
  • Climbing: Ability to climb three flights of stairs in case of emergency evacuation.
  • Position requirements
  • Minimum of two (2) years free from chemical use or abuse, which must be maintained as a condition of ongoing employment.
  • LPN currently licensed in the State of Minnesota, in good standing.
  • Pass MN DHS background check
