About the role

The Residential Counselor provides 24/7 direct supervision and support to adolescents in a group home setting. They are responsible for implementing individualized treatment plans, facilitating daily routines, and responding to crisis situations.

The NFI Group Home serves adolescents ranging in age from 13 to 18 years in a small, mixed gender group setting.

This small milieu allows us the ability to individualize treatment tailored specific to our residents' various needs.

Our capacity allows us to serve six clients at a time, with a staffing ratio of one adult to two clients.

Successful stays for residents typically average from one year to eighteen months.

We offer comprehensive clinical assessment, peer-milieu treatment, individual and family work, psychiatry, case management and discharge planning.

Staff maintain structure, consistency and predictability in day-to-day interventions. There are clear routines to maintain a structured environment as well as individualized safety plans that can be utilized if/when a resident is experiencing challenges emotionally and/or behaviorally. Program decisions and program norms are intended to provide a safe, caring, respectful living environment, and promote a positive peer culture.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full-Time Residential Counselor to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about supporting youth through behavioral, emotional, and mental health challenges in a structured, therapeutic environment. Additionally, ideal candidates would work collaboratively with other staff, be able to give and receive respectful feedback and open to alternative ways of working with youth who have experienced complex developmental trauma.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide direct 24/7 supervision and support to residents.

· Implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clinical staff

· Facilitate daily routines, life skills development, and therapeutic activities

· Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment

· Model appropriate behavior and communication skills

· Document client progress and maintain accurate records

· Respond to crisis situations using approved intervention techniques

Qualifications: · Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or related field (preferred)

· Experience working with adolescents, especially in behavioral health or residential settings

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills

· Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations

· Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

· Valid driver’s license (if transportation of clients is required)
