The Nurse Technician assists with basic nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in an emergency room setting. They perform tasks within their scope of practice while ensuring compliance with the State Nurse Practice Act.
Candidates must be currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in a nursing program. A Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required for this position.
The Nurse Tech is responsible for assisting the delivery of basic nursing care under the direction and general supervision of a Registered Nurse. In complex patient situations the intern will work under the direct supervision of an RN. The Nurse Tech will not perform any procedure that requires licensing by the State (i.e. passing medications, nursing diagnosis, or admission assessment). Standards must comply with the State Nurse Practice Act.
